Cafe de Sluyswacht

Café de Sluyswacht is an adorably little house dating from 1695 in Jodenbreestraat, Amsterdam. Once, this was a lockmaster’s house, which later became a hardware shop, and for the last twenty years it has been a café.

This is the perfect place to chill on a nice and sunny day, near a lovely old building that leans to the right keeping the character of the city. It is located next to the canal in a very picturesque area, being a lot of fun waving and raising a glass to the passing tour boats. As it's just a cafe, the beer prices are rather reasonable compared to the pricier coffee shops from the red light district. If it's raining (and it can happen since you’re in Amsterdam) it's very nice also to sit inside: a place with a lovely interior, perfect for your Amsterdam experience.
