Summer Fun: A Perfect Day at the Beach

These days I was asking myself what was the best value free family entertainment this summer holiday, now that it is almost over. Even though we like to play outdoor games, or to discover the fun in the neck of the woods, or even to create fun family theme nights in our backyard, nothing really compares with the lazy days enjoyed at the beach. Being at just a few hours drive from where we live, the wonderful beaches with fine sand surrounded by cliffs attract us with incredible power. But every time my mission is to come up with the perfect day at the beach.

To this end, I have to pack shirts for the entire family, sunscreen and hats for when we are lazily resting on the sand because serious sunburn can ruin the trip. This is why I always add the beach umbrella to the luggage. Then, it comes the walking shoes for exploring the marine life along the rocks, the reading materials like books and magazines and also the camera for taking beautiful pictures.

Let’s not forget about the food, because this is vital to any perfect day at the beach. For lunch, I will forget about the usual sandwiches in order to enjoy a pizza. And the best place to do that is Pizza Hut, where they have also this offer of letting kids under 12 years eat free which was available all summer, but have been extended until January 9, 2011. More specifically, for every adult main course or adult lunchtime buffet purchased, an accompanying child can choose from either a free 2 course kids meal or a free kids lunchtime buffet which includes pizza, pasta and salad. Find more details about the offer at http://bit.ly/a1DhgJ.

Besides the Kids Eat Free offer, on the bottom of your receipt you will find an offer code. If you enter this code at http://www.pizzahut.co.uk/familyadventures you can get great deals on a wide range of family activities and adventures including holidays, theme parks, zoos and more.

Overlooking Athens from Lykavittos Hill

Lykavittos Hill is the highest peak in Athens, standing around 900 feet above sea level and being (because of its height) a landmark visible from almost every part of the city. Its name reflects a popular belief that the hill was inhabited by wolves. Another legend explains that Lykavittos hill appeared when Athena accidentally dropped a large rock she was going to use for the construction of the Acropolis. Despite these interesting legends, Lykavittos did not attract the attention of classical authors and historians.

However, the majestic peak is an important tourist destination. A small whitewashed chapel of St. George, erected in the 19th century on the site of a Byzantine church of Prophet Elijah, crowns the top of Lykavittos. From the top you can see a panorama of the entire city and the theatre, used for concerts and spectacles. To reach the top by foot, you need to prepare yourself for a long climb. The initial portion of the climb, among shrubs and small trees, is relatively easy. However, when you get to the stairs, laid out at a low angle to make the ascent easier, your legs are going to let you know they are not too happy about the exercise. If you don't feel like arguing with them, choose an easier way: take the funicular from Kolonaki. After you reach the top, you may rest and have a drink in a terraced restaurant or let the wind on the observation deck cool you down.

Publishing Syndicated Content on Your Blog

Some writers publicize themselves by syndicating a portion of their work for publication in websites, or newsletters. The quality of such articles varies greatly. The writers of these articles appreciate having their work published as long as the simple guidelines are followed to give them the credit deserved. The text of this type of articles can be copied and pasted into your html page as long as you include the credentials at the bottom of each article which typically includes also a hyperlink to the author's site. It's a good idea to check the author's site to verify before publishing any free articles.

The below mentioned tips for publishing free articles will help webmasters get started with publishing syndicated content, even if it is about travel articles, technology articles, business or fashion articles.

Tips for publishing free articles:
- the general etiquette for publishing a free article is to include the credentials at the end of the article, giving the author full credit.
- it is a good practice to make sure the author's url or email appearing in the resource box is hyperlinked in your copy of the article instead of simply listed in text form.
- before publishing articles, check the author permissions in the resource box to make sure the author does not have any special stipulations for publication. Some authors like to receive a FYI e-mail notification from the publisher letting him know where the article is being published.
- always keep in mind that the author retains the copyright and that under law, the article is his or her property which they are allowing you to use.

Finishing the Book you Started to Write a While Ago

Sometimes, for various reasons, even the most experienced writers need to put book projects aside before they're complete. Maybe you need to get clear about what you really want to say, maybe you have another big project to focus on, or maybe you just don't know what to do next. So what's the best thing you can do? After a while, get back into it!

Just because you set something aside, doesn’t mean you'll never finish it. All it takes is a decision to finish what you started. However, whether you set your book aside because of time, because you needed space to get clear on the topic, or because you just finished a draft and had no idea what to do next, picking up where you left off can be a challenge.

A few weeks ago, I started working on a half-finished book that I'd set aside nearly a year ago. For various reasons, I needed time away from it so I could focus on finishing other projects. And although I didn't plan on being away for a year, the past is the past, and we do what we can. But I realized that the longer I waited, the harder it would be, so I made the decision to get it back on my to-do list.

With the decision made, I spent some time thinking about what I really wanted this book to accomplish and what did I most wanted to say. When I set this book aside, I did so, in part, because the meaning of all my ideas hadn't become clear to me yet. I didn't know what exactly I wanted to say, and we all know that's not a very productive perspective to write from. Therefore I decided to take a few months off to think about it. Now that I was back, I wanted to go into the project with the clarity I lacked before. Thankfully, those months away allowed me to return with the so much needed perspective.

After getting clear on what exactly I wanted my book to communicate, I started reading everything I'd already written and after that started working on it again. And no matter how long you've been sitting on your unfinished book, you can do the same: start by revisiting and getting clear on what you really want your book to be about and then read what you have written with fresh and critical eyes. Seeing where you need to go from there will be much easier, and you'll be able to jump in and write with the same energy you had when you started writing the book, no matter how long ago that was.

Exploring Azores Islands

The Azores is a Portuguese archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, about 1,500 km west from Lisbon and about 3,900 east from the east coast of North America. The archipelago, and economic exclusion zone, forms the Autonomous Region of the Azores, one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal. Its main industries are: agriculture, dairy farming, minor livestock ranching, fishing and tourism, which is becoming the major service activity in the region. In addition, the government of the Azores is responsible for employing a large percentage of population directly or indirectly in many aspects of the service and tertiary sectors.

The Azores islands are not just a destination but a magical journey. With breathtaking views which seem detached from promotional calendars, at the core of nine islands you will find a harmonious convergence of majestic scenery with the human warmth and way of life that is both timeless and contemporary. Over the years the Azores Islands have gained the trust of visitors looking for an exciting holiday.

Still a sleeping beauty, the nine islands of this fascinating archipelago, which marks the westernmost end of Europe, have everything to please every traveler. If you are in search of spectacular landscapes with never-ending panoramic views, savagely beautiful untouched nature, wide open spaces where the green color prevails, exuberant flora exhibiting all colors of the rainbow, solitary hiking routes, small and peaceful villages, picturesque and deserted roads, then the Azores are the ideal holiday destination.

Practicing Snow Kayaking

It is for sure that you all heard, at a certain point in your life, about snow boarding or snow skiing. But what about snow kayaking? It is possible? Yes, the small water craft has found its way to the snow hills, and adventure seekers are riding the mountains in a whole new way. Learning snow kayaking is a rewarding and fun activity but should not be taken lightly.

Traditional water kayaking requires water gear. Snow kayaking requires snow gear. Acquire a well fitting helmet and goggles such as those used for downhill or extreme skiing sports. A snow suit or thermal pants and a well fitting jacket are needed for the cold conditions. Thermal, but not bulky, gloves are needed to keep the hands warm, but usable. You have to invest in a new, sturdy paddle for the kayak. This paddle will be used to navigate the hills and needs to be reliable. The kayak itself should be new, or in very good condition. Be sure there are no cracks or scars on the bottom which will affect the kayak as it travels in the snow. Some kayaks have openings which are too small to accommodate snow gear worn for the land version of the sport. Put on all your outerwear and get into the kayak before taking it to the mountain.

You cannot learn snow kayaking just anywhere. The sport requires a wide, open hill with little or no obstructions. The control of the kayak is less accurate than other downhill sporting gear and obstacles such as trees become highly hazardous. Not all resorts allow snow kayaking on their hills. Inquire before going.

Choose an easy rated hill and get ready to give snow kayaking a try. Use your paddle to gently push off and go slow at first, steering the craft down the hill with the assistance of the paddle. Dig the paddle into the snow to stop. Be prepared for a few spills before getting the sport down pat.

Finding the Proper Internet Connection for You

Common methods of Internet access include dial-up, landlines, T-lines, Wi-Fi, satellite and cell phones.

Dial-up connections are the most common type of Internet connection available from ISPs, but also the slowest and usually the least expensive. A dial-up connection allows users to connect to the Internet via a local server using a standard 56k modem, the PC literally dials a telephone number and then connects to the server's modem. Once connected, users are free to search the web as they please, however, compared to modern speeds of broadband Internet, dial-up is very slow and can only nominally transfer at 56 kilobits per second. Broadband download speeds range from 1Mb/s for slower ADSL to 25-30Mb/s for faster cable, from thirty to nine hundred times faster than dial-up.

Asymmetric digital subscriber lines (ADSL) have become a widely available Broadband Internet access connection, providing a variety of data rates. The connections work by splitting the function of a phone line into separate channels for voice telephone calls and for data. Thus, a user can talk on the phone and be connected to the Internet at the same time. There are other versions of DSL also being used to provide Internet access such as VDSL (Very High Speed DSL), or SDSL (Symmetric DSL).

Cable Internet access, the principal competitor to DSL, is offered at a range of prices and speeds overlapping that of DSL, but tends to concentrate more on the high end of the market.

The satelite internet access represents the access provided through satellites. The service can be provided to users world-wide through Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. Geostationary satellites can offer higher data speeds, but their signals cannot reach some polar regions of the world. Different types of satellite systems have a wide range of different features and technical limitations, which can greatly affect their usefulness and performance in specific applications.

Wi-Fi provides wireless access to computer networks, and therefore it can be done for the Internet itself. Hotspots providing such access include Wi-Fi-cafes, where a would-be user needs to bring their own wireless-enabled devices such as a laptop or PDA. These services may be free to all, free to customers only, or fee-based. A hotspot need not be limited to a confined location. The whole campus or park, or even the entire city can be enabled. Grassroots efforts have led to wireless community networks.

Discovering the Hidden Resources of Antarctica

Antarctica is an unexplored world all its own, which is why there are conducted international science researches. The most striking characteristic of Antarctica proves to be the enormous ice shelf that covers over not simply nearly all of the land, but furthermore pushes out into the water as a permanent floating ice shelf which exists sometimes on hundreds of miles across the sea. Holding almost 90 percent of all the ice on earth, this continent contains about two percent of all the water on our globe. The endurance of the great inland ice maintains sea level worldwide. With horrific consequences for all seacoasts and seaports, only a few feet of this ice melting and turning into water would cause the sea level to rise dangerously.

The layers of ice and snow contain information from the past on nuclear explosions, or the utilization of lead in gasoline. Common lead has been measured on the ice surface and tracked since the 1950's. Because of the precipitation of the decomposing lead alkyls that came from the leaded gasoline burning, the ice surfaces have demonstrated a scary rise in lead concentrations over the course of the past ten years.

Vegetation in Antarctica is found mostly as lichens. Springtails and mites prove to be the most common land animals. A wingless fly is the biggest animal found in Antarctica; no insects can live there. In the ocean around penguins and seals can be observed. Especially the seals have impressed the researchers in diving as deep as 1,500 feet and staying under water for 30 minutes while hunting for food.

In the winter, the penguins migrate north, but in the rest of the year they hang around in the Antarctic. They have the ability to maintain a course heading exactly and precisely, due to their ability to use the sun to find their location. The planet's largest inhabitant lives also in Antarctica. Eating nearly one ton of shrimp daily, and weighing five times more than any past dinosaur, the great blue whale is nearing extinction.

If You Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time, What Wrong Decision In Your Life Would You Want To Correct?

If you could turn back the hands of time, what wrong decision in your life would you want to correct?

Choosing the Right Wall Clock

The world of wall clocks is older than what most of us think. Initial wall clocks had metal casts on beautiful wooden frames. Wall clocks can be distinguished in many ways considering their period, their cost, their working and their style. Below, I will present some of the most popular types of wall clocks.

Pendulum Wall Clocks. The pendulum wall clock is different than other type of wall clocks in terms of working, manufacturing and appearance. The pendulum is what is unique about these clocks. Christian Huygens invented the first pendulum clock. These days, pendulum clocks have been working on springs and even batteries.

Decorative Wall Clocks. Decorative wall clocks are smaller in size and popular as they match with most theme based rooms. Some wall clock manufacturers offer limited number of designer wall clocks signed by famous personalities.

Musical Wall Clocks. Musical wall clocks are those which emit a tune after a certain period of time, intervals which can be manually adjusted. Cuckoo clocks are famous examples of musical clocks. Nowadays, musical clocks working on batteries are getting more popularity.

Personalized Wall Clocks. Wall clocks can be specially made with names and pictures crafted on them to celebrate special occasions like anniversaries, birthdays and other special occasions. These types of wall clocks are known as personalized wall clocks. Many companies order wall clocks with company logos and printed names.

Antique Wall Clocks. The words ‘wall clock' and ‘antique' seem synonymous with many museums dedicated to antique artifacts proudly displaying wall clocks from various periods. Antique wall clocks are those which have been tested by time and many of these are still in working conditions. Also, the antique wall clocks have won various prizes in auctions which are popular among the collectors.

Improving Your Writing

Even though you are not a professional writer, writing probably plays a critical role in your daily work because for sure you have to create emails, memos, reports, and other items that require some writing skills. By following the below mentioned advices, you can make everything you write far more communicative and effective.

Communicate, don't complicate. Write to ensure that your message is conveyed and understood, rather than to impress the recipient. Choose familiar language, basic words, and simple sentence structure. If you really do know what you're talking about, it will come through more clearly. Best of all, there are fewer chances that to be misunderstood.

Abolish semicolons. The semicolon is a very powerful tool when used correctly; most people mistakenly employ it as a fancier comma. Rather than risk a misuse, reword the sentence or break it into two sentences so you don't need the semicolon.

Limit syllables. A great vocabulary is worthy of applause, but it's important to remember that not everyone who will read your writing understands the meaning of perspicacious or lugubrious. So use words like shrewd or dismal, which are more well-known.

Keep it conversational. Unless you're creating a term paper, skip the fancy style in favor of writing the way people talk. It really is okay to start sentences with conjunctions and end them with prepositions, because people do that in conversations. Memos, ads, brochures and websites are more effective when they don't sound like grammar lessons.

Use the second person. Again, unless you're penning an English paper, use the second person (you) in your communications materials. Instead of saying "system users can save time and money," say "you can save time and money." You'll do a better job of connecting with the reader, and at a subconscious level, the reader will believe you're speaking directly with him or her.

Edit your first draft. Most skilled writers put as much effort into editing as into their first drafts. Each time you read what you've written, look for minor changes that will improve it. If you have time, walk away from it, and look at it again after lunch or in the morning. You may be surprised at how much better it reads with a few fixes.

Fishing in Hawaii

When you have in mind to go fishing in Hawaii, first of all you have to select the boat wisely. A boat that meets your requirements and your objective on what you want to do with the fish you catch are the things to look at when selecting a boat. Then you have to select the appropriate island that meets your desired duration of the trip. For shorter excursions, pick an island that has deep water near the shores. These islands are ideal for shorter fishing excursions where catching the fish won't take a very long period of time.

Don’t forget about the tackle, bait, ice and fresh water. Confirm with the boat organization if they will offer also these products. Tackle is really a set of pulleys and ropes assembled to facilitate the mechanisms for hoisting and pulling. Bait is for luring the fish. Ice is for keeping fresh the fish caught during the journey. Lastly, the fresh water is for thirst quencher during the fishing trip.

Wear comfortable clothes that are suited for a hot summer day. T-shirts and shorts are the greatest clothes to have in mind when you go fishing. Keep in mind that an additional t-shirt will also be helpful. Also, bring with you a baseball cap for shading. This is efficient in shielding the hot rays in the sun during the journey.

Bring with you polarized sunglasses to see the fish inside water. There are a lot of fish species in the Hawaiian archipelago. When you see the variety of fish that can be caught here, you will feel like somebody is telling you over and over click here to get more fish.

In order to continue with the list of tips to have in view for a perfect fishing trip in Hawaii, procure also food and drinks if the boat renting company won't offer such products. Don't forget to bring medicine for seasickness. To minimize feeling seasick, take an 8-hour sleep prior to the vacation. Being fully awake and active before the boat leaves the dock will prevent you from feeling seasick. Making use of the above mentioned ideas will assure you an enjoyable day of fishing.

Achieving Success as a Travel Diary Writer

Visiting a beautiful place doesn't have to be a singular experience. By keeping a diary or journal of your travels you can instantly revisit and relive the places where you have been. Keeping a journal of your experiences can be as demanding as it is rewarding, since having the resulted article forever is worth the effort. Firstly it is generally good to choose an interesting notebook or journal to take traveling with you, but it also has to be durable and functional. Once you have chosen your book you just need to lay your thoughts on the white pages.

Your approach to journaling can be simply as you are. Some people like to keep a very strict written account of what they do. This is useful because it contain factual information but be careful not to write every single detail of what you do as otherwise you would be in danger of never revisiting your words. It can be detailed but not to the point where it is painful.

Other people like to keep a loosely structured diary which involves images as well as words. Sketches whilst traveling can be the most rewarding because of their ability to convey more of a place through the process of their creation than many words can. It almost doesn't matter about your own drawing ability, purely by sitting in a place and sketching you can remember the sights and smells of a place and thus they are an enriching part of your travel diary. This free approach can also be enhanced with pasted museum stubs and transport tickets.

One tip is not to be too precious about your journal when writing it because you would often be tempted to give it up. Treat your journal as a splurge for your thoughts and feelings rather than a strict, structured and factually accurate diary. You can always date each day as a way of keeping a loose sense of chronology and order. Lastly, always make sure you have your journal and a pen close to hand so that you can capture any random conversation, sight or moment so that it can be preserved and enjoyed continuously.

Reviews of the Different Types of Car iPod Adapters

When it comes to connecting your iPod to your car, there are many options. Wireless FM transmitters, Wired FM Modulators, Dedicated iPod interfaces, and aftermarket radios with iPod control are the four most popular options. Each of these iPod adapters have their applications and they all have their strong and weak points. This article will review each of the iPod adapters.

Wireless FM Transmitter Review:

When it comes to interfacing your iPod to your car, a wireless FM transmitter is the easiest option and it will work with just about 100% of the cars on the road. This iPod adapter works by transmitting the audio signal from your iPod to your factory radio wirelessly. Out of all the iPod adapters this is the easiest one to install.

The better ones just plug into your car's cigarette lighter and then to the iPod. Once connected, all you have to do is tune you car's radio to a certain station to hear the songs from your iPod. This iPod adapter is extremely easy to install and not very expensive, but it does have some flaws.

Most of the time you will experience static in teh background of the music. Also, the audio may drift in and out, getting louder and softer. Another flaw of this iPod adapter is that the FCC regulates the output power of the wireless transmitter. If you live in an area that has strong radio stations, the radio stations will over power the transmitter and you will hear the radio stations behind your music.

Wired FM Modulator Review:

Even though a wired FM modulator is a little harder to install than a wireless FM transmitter, it is well worth it. Wired FM modulators work on the same premise as a wireless FM transmitter, but it connects directly to your car's factory antenna. I does not only connect directly to the antenna, it also isolates the antenna from the radio. By isolating the antenna from the radio, it does not allow strong radio stations to bleed through the iPod's audio.

Wired FM modulators also are universal and work on just about 100% of the cars on the road, but installation is required. On most cars the factory radio needs to be removed in order to plug the FM modulator into the antenna, but like I said before, it is worth it. This iPod adapter has the ability to give you clear, static free audio that does not drift and has no radio station bleed through.

Dedicated iPod Interface Review:

If you have your heart set on keeping you factory radio, your best option is a dedicated iPod interface. Like the wired FM modulator it does require installation. Unlike the wired FM modulator it is not universal and only works on select vehicles. The installation usually consists of removing your factory radio and plugging the dedicated iPod interface into the CD Changer/Satellite radio port.

This port allows the adapter to control the iPod from the radio's controls. Also, the audio quality is extremely good and there will be no static or interference. Plus a dedicated iPod interface will plug into the bottom of your iPod and charge it. If your car has the provisions for one, this is that type of iPod adapter that I would recommend.

How Will You React If God Gave You Extreme Pain?

How will you react if God gave you extreme pain? Will you blame Him for your pain?

Collecting Business Cards

As you already know, business cards are cards bearing business information about a company or an individual. They are shared during formal introductions as a convenience and a memory aid. A business card typically includes the giver's name, company affiliation and contact information such as street addresses, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail addresses and website. It can also include telex, or bank accounts. Even though the traditional cards were simple black text on white stock, today a professional business card will include one or more aspects of striking visual design.

There are several hundred known collectors of business cards, especially antique cards, celebrity cards, spiritual business cards, or cards made of unusual materials. One of the major business card collectors' clubs is the International Business Card Collectors. The club members exchange cards with each other, simply for the price of postage. Collectors often shorten the words "business card" to BC to make e-mail discussion easier.

The collectors are always on the lookout for business cards. For example, when they enter to any type of store, they immediately scope out the counter area to see if there are business cards. Also, the collectors are known for entering a specific store that has business cards for the sole purpose to pick up a card to be added to the collection.

Due to the fact that it is not a mainstream hobby like collecting coins or stamps, many people are confused when they hear that someone is a business card collector. After all, why on earth would anyone collect little pieces of paper with names and addresses on them? In some cases, it starts out innocently by picking up business cards when you have your own business doing for example business card design for others. And what starts as a sort of idea for the portfolio, it continues to grow into the habit of picking up cards as often as it is possible. In conclusion, if you have some old business cards laying around, drop an email to the collectors club mentioned above because somebody would love to add them to their collection.

Visiting the Museums of Athens

Athens is loaded with museums. It seems like there are new museums and branches of old museums opening every week. Due to this, I will list below some of the museums that, in my opinion, shouldn’t be missed if you stay in the city for a couple of days.

The Acropolis Museum. The Acropolis Museum is an archaeological museum focused on the findings of the archaeological site of the Acropolis of Athens. The museum was built to house every artifact found on the rock and on its feet, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. It also lies on the archaeological site of Makrygianni and the ruins of a part of Roman and early Byzantine Athens.

The Benaki Museum. The museum houses Greek works of art from the prehistorical to the modern times, an extensive collection of Asian art, hosts periodic exhibitions and maintains a state-of-the-art restoration and conservation workshop. Although the museum initially housed a collection that included Islamic art, Chinese porcelain and exhibits on toys, its 2000 re-opening led to the creation of satellite museums that focused on specific collections, allowing the main museum to focus on Greek culture over the span of the country's history.

National Archaeological Museum. The National Archaeological Museum houses some of the most important artifacts from a variety of archaeological locations around Greece from prehistory to late antiquity. It is considered one of the great museums in the world and contains the richest collection of artifacts from Greek antiquity worldwide.

Kerameikos Museum. In the ancient cemetery of Athens at the bottom of Ermou past the Monastiraki market it is a nice, but little museum. The Museum houses valuable collection of steles, sculpture, beautiful vases and terracotta figurines unearthed from the site.

Museum of Popular Musical Instruments. This museum located in Athens’ Plaka district is dedicated to Greek Popular Music. You feel happy the minute you walk in and probably you will dance and sing your way through.

National Gallery. The National Art Gallery and Alexander Soutzos Museum is an art museum devoted to Greek and European art from the 14th century to the 20th century.
