AXA Respect On The Road is a campaign created in order to bring courtesy and respect back to British roads. Too many times you have the occasion to drive near angry drivers who talk disrespectful in the traffic blaming others around for situations perceived as problems. Even though some of them are harmless acting this way just for amusement, others are dangerous: horning, shouting, gesturing, and confronting other drivers, behavior which can possibly lead to violent endings.
The sad thing is that some angry drivers don't see their conduct as being bad. But if you think that this type of behavior is irresponsible, you are welcomed to share your experience as a driver on the Facebook campaign fanpage by hitting the ‘like’ button. You can visit also the dedicated website for this campaign, where you can find out the latest news on the campaign, you can share your driving experiences, you can get a quota for AXA Car Insurance, and even more.
In order to illustrate this campaign, AXA has also created two viral videos, the first is called ‘Road Rage Kids’ and the second ‘Cab Cam’.
The first video is acted entirely by 5 year old kids who believe it's normal to behave in a completely disrespectful manner behind the wheel, attitude copied from their ignorant parents. The second video was created on the streets of London, in a black cab, giving people the chance to express their opinions about the way other people drive in or around London, as you can see also below:
I respect the road! What about you? Are you a calm or an angry driver?

Lloyds TSB has just launched a photography weather competition in the UK, with a top prize of £10,000, and running until the end of September 2010. The lucky twelve finalists’ entries will be on show in a public exhibition in London where the winner will be announced in November. The British weather photographer of the year will be picked by a leading panel of meteorologists and photographers who will be looking for images that capture the love of the weather, demonstrate originality and creativity, and capture best the British climate.
In order to enter the competition, the participants must submit their photos capturing British weather to the Lloyds TSB website. Then all visitors to the site can vote for their favorite photos, and each week the most voted photo wins £100. Being a great opportunity for all amateur photographers to get some recognition for their work, if you don’t plan to enter the competition, at least take a look at the entries submitted so far and vote for your favorite one.
One of my entries, presented also at the beginning of this post, is called just clouds. Even though it is not my best photo made, I think that it captures very well the typical atmosphere: a cloudy sky ready to offer its raindrops. Too bad that I can’t jump in the water right from the cliffs…
In the end, the following important information should be kept in mind when you want to enter the competition:
- for full terms and conditions, visit lloydstsb.com;
- participation not available for employees of Lloyds Banking Group and their immediate families;
- entrants may submit more than one photograph;
- the competition will run on lloydstsb.com website from 1 April 2010 until 30 September 2010;
- it is an internet based promotion only;
- the competition is only open to amateur photographers, which means that entrants should not earn more than 10% of their total annual income or £5,000 annually from photography.
