Chen's car is a rare, $125,000 Nissan GTR. In March of last year, he decided to chase a driver in a Mitsubishi Evo. It didn't go so well. He smashed into a retaining wall. The embarrassing episode was captured on YouTube.

The car has been sitting at a shop since then. Apparently even rich kids have trouble coming up with the $75,000 needed for repairs. So Chen figured he'd get someone else to pay for the damages.

He first filed an insurance claim saying his sister was in an accident on the freeway. Then, just to behave more suspiciously, he withdrew that claim and filed a new one, asserting that he was in an accident on another freeway.

The delays apparently didn't sit well with the body shop hosting the car. Someone there tipped off the state insurance commissioner's office, noting that the car was already in the shop before the allegedly freeway accidents took place. And since the GTR is so rare, police easily identified it when they combed through street racing tapes on YouTube.

Chen quickly admitted to his scheme when confronted with the evidence. He's now charged with six counts of fraud, while his sister's been hit with one.

"In addition to going to driving school, Mr. Chen might want to consider finishing grade school," Deputy Insurance Commissioner Byron Tucker told KTLA-TV. "Because this was not a smart move."
