Glasses are perhaps the easiest and most effective way for improving vision. They also happen to be one thing that most children avoid wearing: not because they don't need them, but because they are afraid of the teasing and the bullying they'll be in for. All children dread the idea of needing to wear glasses. Childhood is enough of a difficult period without the children having one more reason to add to it.
One way of helping children get comfortable with wearing glasses is to point out to them all the famous people who wear them too, making them aware that it's not such a bad thing, and might even be cool. There are a large number of celebrities wearing glasses these days: and the top of the list is Elton John who reportedly owns several thousand pairs of glasses. Also several politicians wear glasses, like Franklin Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt. Harry Truman wore glasses, as did Mahatma Gandhi whose glasses have become synonymous with him. Tony Blair wears glasses, as does the Queen of England.
Amongst other famous men wearing glasses there are writers like James Joyce who wore glasses regularly. Then there is Bill Gates who has made wearing glasses cool. Another celebrity wearing glasses, and one who is extremely hot, is Johnny Depp. Other actors that can be reminded here are Hugh Grant, Morgan Freeman, Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.
Other famous people wearing glasses are singers and musicians, like P-Diddy, Ray Charles, Roy Orbinson and Stevie Wonder. John Lennon shocked the world when he started to wear glasses, and also Elvis Presley wore glasses. And this list of celebrities wearing glasses can go on and on and can be an excellent way of encouraging children to wear glasses.
